mm, not much.  couple of things entertainment wise that Im intrested in comming up.

First of all, movies – Sept 1st Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sept 22nd Howl’s moving Castle, and Sept 29th The Brothers Grim.  click the movie names for links!

Secondly, music – at the Ekka next week, NOVA has 3 free concerts happening, with the headliners being – Grinspoon (Fri 12th), Motor Ace (Sat 13) and Spiderbait (Sat 20).  if you go to the Ekka these days, it would probably be worth checking out.  Also, Regurgitator are playing at The Rev on Fri Sept 9th.  I love them!

Also on music, I learnt some cool terms today!  ‘Skip Hop’ Australian Hip Hop (heheh), and ‘Jangle Pop’ a type of pop from the 80’s that REM are most famous for.  Pretty neat!

Your Outrageous Name Is

Contance Lee Kraps

ehehe, I didnt understand why that was funny till mum explained it to me….  never said i was fast…

Im not a big fan of chain letters, but this was sent to me, and it made me cry, so here it is for everyone else….

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising
the 4 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard.  As
he was driving the last nail into the post, he  felt a tug  on his overalls.
He looked down into the eyes of a little boy.  “Mister,” he said, “I want to
buy one of your puppies.”

“Well,” said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat offthe back of  his  neck,
“these puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of  money.”  The
boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his  pocket, he
pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the  farmer.”I’ve got
thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?”

“Sure,” said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. “Here, Dolly!”
he called. Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by
four little balls of fur. The little  boy pressed his face against the chain
link fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the
fence, the little  boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse.

Slowly  another  little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the
ramp  it  slid. In a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began
hobbling toward  the  others, doing its best to
catch up………..    “I want that one,” the little boy said, pointing
tothe runt.

The farmer knelt down at the boy’s side and said, “Son, you don’t want that
puppy. He will never be able to run and  play with you like these other dogs
would.” With that the little boy  stepped  back from the fence, reached
down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers.  In doing so he revealed

I don\’t run too well myself,  and  he  will need someone who understands."
With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up  the little
pup.

Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy "How much?" asked the
little boy. "No charge," answered the  farmer, "There\’s no charge for love."

just watched the space shuttle discovery cross the skys over brissy – who knows, might be the last space shuttle up there for a while, if not for ever.

Went to see episode 3 on tuesday night with dad.  Yes, a father daughter bonding activity….

all i can say is Obi-wan rocks.  Wookies rock.  Yes, we already knew that the storm troopers were doomed because they were cloned from a kiwi.  an enjoyable movie, but should have finished at the 2 hour mark….

2 08 2005

well, now that Im not home, i suppose changing the nature of this blog is called for.  since my everyday life isnt all that entrahalling.  i bet I spelt that wrong….

so, instead, from now on, this shall just be little bits and peices that that intrest me.

div#goal-header { font-weight: bold; font-size: 14px; } div#goal-list li { font-size: 12px; margin-bottom: 3px; color: #666; } div#goal-list li a { font-size: 12px; }

hmmmm, i wonder if that little script would work….. my 43things list should appear above…. Just wanted to put on record, my immediate aims – get up on time, stretch everyday, write, finish and edit a fanfiction, get a good haircut, go to the gym regularly, watch every movie that people would ask if I have watched, get another pearcing in my ear, take a photography class, take singing lessons, pass the JLPT 2 test.

okay, so, something i found intresting today – the body shop is campaining for the government to increase funds to help with um, homes?  ah, no, shelters for women and children who are fleeing violence at home.  You sign this postcard that will be presented to government, all very easy.  they also have little books to help identify if you or someone you know is being abused.  what i really liked was the closing thougts –

“we should all expect respect for ourselves, and treat other the same.

we are all unique, and worth of love and respect.  ways you can build self-respect and conficence include:

dont be hard on yourself or focus on mistakes

dont blame yourself for the way other people act

focus on positive things, for example – things Ive done that i feel proud of are…. what i like about myself is…. my favourite things are… some things i’d like to do in my life are…

Remember:

you are important

you dont have to match up to anyone’s standards except your own

you have the right to express you racial or cultural beliefs

you have the right to have your own feelings, opnions and friends

you deserve love and respect”

I think that some of that advice we should all follow

its good to be home…..

food, family…  university…..

i kinda think that I have a heap of stress all of a sudden.  and well, its true, but its really no need to be stressed.  ah well.

positive thoughts –

Brisbane International Film festival is on!  Yay! http://www.biff.com.au over 200 films! wow! 12 Japanese films (gee, you wonder what my intrests are….)

there are 2 movies that Im intrested in –

Into the Picture Scroll—The Tale of Yamanaka Tokiwa [more]

Directors Haneda Sumiko
Countries Japan
Language Japanese
Synopsis The Yamanaka Tokiwa is a picture scroll some 150 metres long and over 400 years old, depicting a popular Japanese tale about a samurai avenging the murder of his mother. This most unusual and surprisingly engaging film brings the scroll to life. It took eight years of painstaking work making full scale copies of the scroll just to capture it: it was another 11 years before the film, which also includes live action and a jojuri (musical narrative accompaniment), was completed.

read about that scroll in my history class

The Taste of Tea (Cha no Aji) [more]

Directors Ishii Katsuhito
Countries Japan
Language Japanese
Synopsis Tarantino fans might recognise Ishii Katsuhito as the creator of the animation in Kill Bill: Vol. 1: others may remember him as the director of crime caper Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl (BIFF 99). Here he shows new depths of talent, with a touching, funny, and imaginative look at the eccentricities hiding just beneath the calm surface of ordinary life. The Haruno family could be any Japanese family… except they are all just a little bit… odd. A delightful film.

I love shark-skin man and peach-hip girl!  Its a great movie, so I would love to see more of this directors work!

How You Life Your Life

You seem to be straight forward, but you keep a lot inside. You’re laid back and chill, but sometimes you care too much about what others think. You tend to have one best friend you hang with, as opposed to many aquaintences. You tend to dream big, but you worry that your dreams aren’t attainable.

its kinda scairy how accurate these things can be sometimes…..

Yes, I am back home.  And frankly that was quite an ordeal.  It was at the point when all you can do is laugh.  and laugh.  and then laugh somemore.  cause if you dont your head will explode with all the worrying.

Let me explain…  i was due to leave sendai on tueday at 345, and arrive in naraita an hour later.  The plane from narita to brisbane was at 945ish, and arrive in brisbane at 715 in the morning.  what actually happened?  Typhoon…  serious.  but let me give you a blow by blow description of the day….

woke up after about 3 or 4 hours sleep.  Said goodbye to ppl, finished packing.  took all my bags downstairs, and was waiting around 1 for Kumagai-sensei.  40 minutes later he still hadnt arrived….  at 2 he finally turned up.  He had left is mobile and map at his office, and was lost……  By then it was raining constantly.  He had heard on the radio that the flight was cancelled.  So, he rang the airport and they confirmed.  And then we still had to go to the airport to cancel the ticket, and at that time the plan was to get a refund and put me on the shinkansen.

about 20 minutes into the drive to the airport, it was decided that we should actually ring the travel agency it was booked through.  So we did, and they said we dont have to go to the airport, but just to go to their office.  By now it was around 240.  if I wanted to get on the shinkansen i needed to do it by 4.  (2 hours to get to tokyo, and then 1 hour to get to the airport).  We looked for the office, but we couldnt find it…  so we pulled over and asked for directions.  By the time we got there, it was 345…….  (it only takes about 30 minutes to get into town from the dormitory….)

still raining.  I was left in the lobby of the hotel next to the office.  I was supposed to meet ppl at the airport, but i wasnt going now, so they met me there.  Finally about 430 Kumagai sensei came back.  I was weightlisted for wednesday, so we all dedided to go back to the uni, before having dinner.

Dinner was acutally a very nice affair, and while we were driving to the bar, the worst of the typhoon hit.  dont think i have ever seen that much rain falling so heavily….  that was about 6ish. about 11 we finished, and the rain had stopped!  very surprising!  I stayed at a friends apartment over night.  (3 ppl, tiny place on the floor… very very intresting… about 3 hours sleep again)

Wednesday, made my way back to uni, and we confirmed i was on the flight that afternoon.  So we left for the airport about 130, arrived at 230 and I was on my way finally!

When i arrived in Narita, i was informed that ‘unfortunatley’ they had overbooked ecomony class, and I will be placed in business class.  damn shame that…   so the flight was comfortable and I got about 3 hours sleep again.  Brisbane airport was busy…..

made it home about 8ish, and proceeded to unpack, then it was into uni for a physics society meeting and too speak to lecturers and confim my course…

so, by the time i went to bed last night i was very very tired….

oh, dr phil is on…..

man its been an intresting week.  but very very glad to be back home!

25 07 2005

heh, i just cant believe it…..  stupid yahoo weather….  today was ‘supposed’ to be fine, hot, a little sunny.  Instead its been drizzle, drizzle, drizzle.  Okay, so Im not really that disturbed about it…  just means i wasnt able to go to the botanical gardens.  I suppose the 50 other million things that Ive done while Im here make up for missing out on one thing….

Well, tomorrow is the day.  I’m finally going home!  I am sooooo verrrryyyyy happppyyyyy!!!!!!!!

tried to get a hair cut today, but, alas, mondays a lot of salons are shut here…  and the only other ones i could find were tooo expensive for my tastes.  but i suppose its cheaper for me to get a haircut at home.  Believe me, I dont need to put any more things on my credit card at this point in time.  Thank God for tax returns.

well, i suppose I’ll go have dinner, have a bath and do some packing….  HOME!!!! yay!

24 07 2005

ah, its been a fun day!

okay, didnt get everything i wanted to do done, BUT i went bowling, when to karaoke, took print club pictures AND ate funky thai food for dinner.

just made it home on time before the curfew, and pigged out on cookies.

what could be better than that?

oh, a japanese pop culture note – http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/maiyahi.php  the maiahi song.  this site is a ‘fan made’ filmclip for this song by O-zone.  actually i would call it a animutaion…. now, the filmclip in japan for it is very very similar…  its basically three cats and not as much color (but cuter).  The thing that makes it kinda unique is that the song isnt in japnese (i think its in italian) but as you can kind see, they have guess some words and put in their own actions.  ie, at the start the arrow – well, that line is actually hallo.  And the nu ma nu ma nu ma ay where the cats are drinking in japnese means drink, but its not the same in italian.

i suppose the thing that really surprises me is that a filmclip very similar to this made it as the offical filmclip in japan..  an unoffical flimclip made official…  http://maiahi.com/index.html  thats the japanese site.  the filmclip is perfect…  seriously the other day, at a music story, they were playing it outsid on loop, and ppl would stop and look, and then after it finished about half the ppl would go inside and buy the cd! wow!

i believe this is the person who made the clip http://csx.jp/~damemushi/index.html
