You Are Somewhat Machiavellian

You’re not going to mow over everyone to get ahead…
But you’re also powerful enough to make things happen for yourself.
You understand how the world works, even when it’s an ugly place.
You just don’t get ugly yourself – unless you have to!

intresting….  now I know a new word 🙂

Last night I went to the Student Life Ball with Rei.  I was very very nervous about going, becuase I would only know Rei, and I had no idea what was happening with our tickets, but I have to admit I had a very very good time.  It was a masked ball, so Rei and I made our own masks.  She was in a light pink dress so she had a white mask with pink feathers, and I was in my purple/pink/blue skirt and a black bustier (Is that the right word?) so my mask was black with purple feathers.  I’ll try to put some pictures up in  a tick.

Everyone was very nice, and there were a few unique masks…  very unique…  but the thing that really stood out about the ball was that they had some dance teachers there, and they took everyone through about 5 or 6 progressive dances!  It was a very good idea cause it got EVERYone dancing and it really made time fly.  I really should go along to some social dance classes, it really does appeal to me.  And I think I would like to learn the waltz cause its pretty useful to know.

yo, well, as you wouldnt know, I had a secret blog, but in light of my plans to re-do my website again I decided that it was about to become defunct.  is that the right word?? probably not.  I dont really care right now….  my website is going to be very exciting (for me anyway).  Im planning on finally giving Guardian Productions a proper home, after all these years.

Guardian Productions is the name I put anything I create under.  Well, accept my writings, and in that case my pen name is Fujita Akiko.  Full details will be on the website regarding that.

On other fronts, at the moment my creative side is in full working mode, kinda.  Im editing a fanfiction for a canadian girl, who shows quite a bit of promise.  Her english isnt so good (she’s french canadian) which sometimes shows in her writing, but its much better than what my japanese is  and I am currently translating some manga into scanlations.  that is proving much more difficult than I imagined…  becuase the japanese used is everyday speech…  but its a great way to study!

I’ve got 3 days off this week (ha!  my old boss doenst like me ) so Im trying to put them to good use.  I have my other midsemester next friday so its study study study (well, I kinda fell asleep this afternoon, but I figured I was tired….)

anyway, its dinner time i believe

oh, I think I have a preview of the premium service…  means I can do things like this….but anyway….

things have been so very busy lately.  When I got back from Japan my work told be I would be getting 1 or 2 shifts a week, and well, I got 2 shifts one week, then 3 the next and then 4 last week and 4 this week…..  I can deal with 3, but 4 is just toooooo much for me with university.  I really have to do well this semester!  I cannot fail!  So I asked them to cut me back and was basically told, if you want to cut back you will have to quit.  so, I did.  and frankly it felt very very good.

I was not happy there, and it was causing me much more stress than what it was worth.  I know things are going to be difficult for a while, but I think its for the best.  And its only 10 weeks or so til uni finishes, and then I can go out and work whenever.

But as it goes, I’ve already applied for another job at the airport, and I have good hopes for that one.  Plus I have already emphasised how important it is for me to focus on uni.

On other things, this last week has been Japan Week, so my mother and I went to the main event – a free concert of Gagaku music – traditional court music.  This style of music is about 1000 years old, and hasnt really changed.  You can tell straight away its from another culture!  Very very different.  Its that kinda high pitched musics that sound like a cat…  I cant say I loved it, but it was an interesting evening.  There was about 13 instruments on stage, flutes, pipes, harmonicas, strings and drums.  All of them did sound nice individually, but together they play them too high pitch for my likings.

My favourite instrument was the Sho`, which is like a harmonica in sound, but looks very very different! thats it on the right there.

hmmm, there was something else that I wanted to talk about but I cant quite remember….

Oh yeah, I’ve been offered the position of Albany Creek Lions Club Miss Personality entrant.  Means I’ll be doing some fund raising etc, until next July.  Mum keeps giving me crap about it.  I think it will be good for my CV….

No more taking on stuff until something finishes!  have to stop spreading myself thin….

28 08 2005

Im about to embark on redesigning my website.  I have yet to decide if I am going to do my own blog on that site and get rid of this one..  Im kinda attached to my xanga.  had it for over 400 days now, and yes, I am thinking of going premium…

neway, Im going to include a bio on my page, which is a pretty big thing for me, cause the last time I had a bio on the web was the ‘dot fan club’ website we did in high school in year 10….  hmmm, not going there……

so here are a few musings on what Im going to put in my bio….

Fav TV show:  Any cooking show!  I love watching cooking shows, sadly I dont actually put into practice what I see…  to my mums great disappointment.  Apart from that I hardly watch TV, but I also enjoy docos and australian produced humour/variety shows, like spicks and specks, and the glasshouse.  And yes I am a ‘friend of the ABC’.

Fav Food:  Well, I cant say I have a specific fav dish, because I really really just love food.  I do want to become a ‘foodie’ and I think Im on the way.  (The other day my mum asked me about some meal, and I went into the technicalities of what the different flavours were…  and thats what she was asking me too)  I suppose my favourite home cooked meal is spag bol, and my favourite foods are anything from italian to asian, and seafood!

okay, thats all for now, think I’ll look up what comes up on the net when I type in my name….

hey!  this person has my name!!!!! http://app.infoaa.7700.gnb.ca/gnb/pub/DetailPersonEng1.asp?RecordID=3957&OrgID1=686&DeptID1=60

Your Fortune Is
Better to be pissed off than pissed on.

kinda scairy how approriate that one was….

You Are a Bloody Mary

You’re a fairly serious drinker, who’s experimented a lot with different drinks. You’re a drunk, but a stable drunk. You don’t ever let your drinking get out of control.

and thats not so right…..

27 08 2005

And I thought last week was bad… hahaha.

Think I need a major attitude adjustment, I have just been so full of anger lately, and its horrible.

Not that some things arent going well.  I got a lot of free stuff at uni yesterday – popcorn and V…..

Intesting things happening?  Well, its japan week, so there are alot of ‘events’ happening.  Im going to Gagaku on tuesday night with mum – traditional japanese court music.  should be intresting.

What the bleep is playing at UQ this week, its like a quantum physics spoof doco.

Charlie and the chocolate factory come out on sept 1st.  and the psp..  Septemeber first is a good day (gee, I wonder why?)

And I found out that ‘serenity’, which comes out sept 15th is actually a firefly fly – good on them!   looking forward to that (but still havent seen the series yet…..)

19 08 2005

pretty damn tired.  this week has been the week from hell.

Saw this info on a japanese movie that sounds intresting – Kamikazi girls http://www.kamikazigirls.net its about  –

Momoko (pop idol Kyoko FUKADA, pictured above) yearns to live in 18-century Versailles than in her back-country hometown of Shimotsuma, heartland of the yakuza. To escape, she loses herself in the dreamy, doll-like fashions of the “Lolita” scene. Her idol is Akinori Isobe, chief designer of Baby, the Stars Shine Bright—her favorite Lolita design hose. She travels all the way to Tokyo to shop at their store.

One languid summer, to help fund her expensive hobby, Momoko runs a
classified ad of brand-name knock-off clothes (produced by her dad) for
sale. She encounters a buyer named Ichiko (the real name is Ichigo), who
happens to live in her neighborhood.

Super-rebel Ichiko (model and J-rock icon Anna TSUCHIYA, pictured below), is a “Yankee”-style member of the Ponytails motorbike gang, one of Ibaraki’s “wild speed tribes,” whose teeth-rattling customized bikes are decked out with fiberglass shields and bannered backrests.

Somewhat against Momoko’s will, she and Ichigo slowly develop a strong friendship as they share their feelings on the odd goings-ons around them.

Unfortunately cant find any info about an australian release date.  and its just my type of movie too…

the other thing I found intresting, while looking up info on the earthquake in sendai on tuesday, on the mainichi news website they had a report on the world cosplay summit.  Yes thats right.  World Cosplay Summit….  OMG. http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/photospecials/graph/wcs2005/

and the winner? –

Italian Giorgia Vecchini took top prize dressed up as sultry Sirene from “Devilman.”

eh?
