go check out Comic Life, its a great little program by plasq that you use to make your photos into a comic book like spread.  I’ve seen a couple around the place and they look great!  It’s too bad I didnt buy a mac when I upgraded, becuase the program is only available on that platform for the time being.  But it is being developed for windows, so look out!

have a look at what ppl have put up on flickr while you are at it! http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/comiclife/interesting/

resolve?

16 09 2006

I’ve been wasting far too much time on the internet.  And the funny thing is – I haven’t been reading copious amounts of fanfiction as I tend(ed) to do.  Which is a good thing.  Just wasting time is bad.  I dont really even have anything to show for it……

I think I’m induldging in a little too much escapism.  Not a good thing.  Not that the real world is a particularly nice place at the moment.

I’ll have to ultlize my internet time better I think..  I’ll start writing lists of things to do on the internet.  And stick to them…..

Finally, my 6 years of studying PHYSICS has amounted to something!

I kinda broke the tv antenna at work.  the wires attached to the plug came off.  But thanks to my prac work, I knew that all I had to do was strip the wires and then wrap them around the contacts and I should be able to get it working.

Funny thing is that it works even better now!

oh i wish

10 09 2006

I had no idea that Steve Irwin dying was such a big deal.  Comedity even did a comic for it.  Sad.

I think I’ve hit a bit of a rut. My life consists of lots of sleep, a few hours work and then the internet.  Its not that I dont have things to actually do on the net, however i am spending a bit too much time procrastinating on it.  Work is a necessary evil as always.  And sleep.  my gosh.  I cant let this continue.  Im blaming my sleeping in on working so late, but really, if Im in bed by 1am, I should be able to get up at 9.  there should be no excuses.  God forbid I *do not*  want this to continue in Japan.  The whole point of moving over there is to live!  not sleep all the time.

It hasnt been all bad though.  I’ve been emailing people, I’ve been making appointments etc and getting ready.  I just feel as if most of my time is wasted by me.  and thats only cheating yourself, ne?

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In 77 and 69 revolution was in the air
I was born too late and to a world that doesn’t care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

When the head of state didn’t play guitar,
Not everybody drove a car,
When music really mattered and when radio was king,
When accountants didn’t have control
And the media couldn’t buy your soul
And computers were still scary and we didn?t know everything

When popstars still remained a myth
And ignorance could still be bliss
And when God Saved the Queen she turned a whiter shade of pale
When my mom and dad were in their teens
and anarchy was still a dream
and the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail

When record shops were on top
and vinyl was all that they stocked
and the super info highway was still drifting out in space
kids were wearing hand me downs,
and playing games meant kick arounds
and footballers still had long hair and dirt across their face

great! you have to dream more and more each day. the most fantisiful the better.
when i was a kid, i thought i would travel the world and live in many different countries. i made the opportunities come true, i knew how to change my life to take up the challenge to make them true. i know you have a creative mind, take a leap of faith. you have that in you. i was sooooo impressed that you had the courage to live in japan when you were in uni. i saw where your starting point was and how much you have grown over the years. its absolutely amazing. do you know that?

but i dont want you to stop. i want you to have an amazing life. thats my wish for you. so dream on baby! dream a life that you think that will never happen.

who even thought of a life like star trek. im learning to love star trek and the life it galvanizes. the tech. they used foments a new generation of technology used decades later. wow!

take that spirit of going where no man or woman has gone before. dream your life, dream your future. dream high in the sky where people think u r crazy.

who ever thought that communication on cell phones would have been so prevailant like it is today?

Another way

Anger is not worth the price you pay for it. Transform it instead into positive resolve.
Despair will only keep you stuck where you are. Choose to exchange it for a good dose of inspiration.
Arrogance will cut you off from the world. Cast it away and replace it with generosity and enthusiasm.
Impatience only brings you mistakes and frustration. Let it go and let peaceful purpose take its place.
For every burden of your own creation, there is an alternative that will lift you up. When you feel yourself being dragged down by the attitude you have chosen, let that be a reminder to choose a more positive approach.
You are in control of the way you look at life. And the way you look at life surely and inevitably determines the way your life will be.

Thank you, that was such a nice letter.  Its always a really lovely thing to hear that someone supports you and encourages you.  Brought a tear to my eye.

The quote about anger really sort of hits home for me.  Its sad for me to think about, but my life has been filling with anger and resentment as of late.  I think it’s because I’m not doing what I should be doing.  I’m not made to be a sales assistant all my life.  I have a lot more promise in my future.  Its going to be exciting!  Its just that I feel I’m stuck on this stepping stone.  I suppose that’s because I can see that it will be changing in the very near future.  I’m so excited about returning to Japan!

I got notice that my certificate of eligibility is in the mail.  That was a big relief for me.  Means there’s nothing to stop me from now.  It also means that its definitely happening, and I’ll have to tell my grandma (bad) and my work (good…  very good).

One month, 20 days and counting!

Dreams

6 09 2006

My gosh I had a weird dream last night…

We were driving home from eating dinner out.  Dad was driving, Mum was also in the car, and Yui, myself and someone else were in the back seat.  But we were going home to our old house at Aspley.  Instead of turning into the house, day drove up the hill and drove around for a bit.  We could see the stars so clearly.  And I could see constellations (like the lines joining the stars to make the images).  The night sky was really beautiful, it was also really dark, but then I noticed the moon was full.  We decided we could go for a walk, so Dad started to drive down the hill and we would walk from home, but coming down the hill everything changed.  It went from night to a really bright day, and from our street in Aspley to this desert wasteland (that was also flat).  Approaching where we were going to stop (because our house was no longer there) we saw an aeroplane, which turned itself into the ground and crashed.  So we drove to the wreckage to help out.  The plane was in 3 pieces, one which I thought was the cockpit, but as I looked through it I kept finding bodies with their faces covered.  I didnt want to see a dead persons face, so i didnt lift the clothes, but I kept shaking them to see if anyone was still alive.  It wasnt until someone came over and told be they were actually dummies that I noticed that they wernt really humans, and this wasnt the cockpit.  We went over to the cockpit and got the captain out, and then over to the main fuselarge to get the rest of the folk out.  Remarkably I dont think anyone died.  And then we tried to get help from town (which was a few miles away).

Very very strange….

I still call Australia home…

3 09 2006

Friday night mum and I went to see The Boy From Oz.  My gosh, my respect for Hugh Jackman has raised another notch, which believe me is hard because he’s already up there!

He’s such a hottie!  Go see it if you have the chance!

Peter Allen had such and intresting life, and he was a very talented songwriter.  I Still call Australia Home gives me goosebumps.  I think most aussies can relate to that song in some way or another.

I’ve been to cities that never close down,
from New York to Rio and old London town,
but no matter how far or how wide I roam,
I still call Australia home.

I’m always travelIing, I love being free,
and so I keep leaving the sun and the sea,
but my heart lies waiting over the foam,
I still call Australia home.

All the sons and daughters spinning ’round the world,
away from their family and friends,
but as the world gets older and colder,
it’s good to know where your journey ends.
Someday we’ll all be together once more,
when all of the ships come back to the shore,
Ill realise something I’ve always known,
I still call Australia home.

but no matter how far or wide I roam,
I still call Australia I still call Australia, I still call Australia home.
but no matter how far or wide I roam,
I still call Australia I still call Australia, I still call Australia home.

Im so proud!

30 08 2006

I can be pretty shocking with my email.  I use gmail, and the system I run with is basically leave stuff in the inbox until I action it (or reply or what ever).

Currently my oldest piece of mail is from January 3rd…  omgosh.  and its almost September!  But there is a light at the end of the tunnel!  I’ve been emailing madly in the last five days! and I’ve reduced the number of emails sitting in my inbox to just 4 (that I have to reply to)!

4! I’m so proud!

now the only problem is keeping it like that!

We (meaning a few folk from work and Lauren) went to the QLD Roar opening game on Saturday night.  Twas lots of fun   The match itself was pretty boring for the first 60 minutes, but then we scored 3 goals and it was all over for Perth.  In their face!

Still waiting on Lauren to email me the photo she took – me looking all patriotic in orange and blue
