celebrate good times!

they have a word for ppl like me in japanese;  Disneymania

yesterday I went with a student to Disneyland, and boy was it fun!  Admittedly it was soooo hot, and we didn’t get to ride any of the really big rides because it was sooooo busy, but it was a good time nonetheless.

The best thing – Pirates now includes animatronic Johnny Depp – which actually looks pretty damn real and moves very very authentically.  I think they’ve changed a few things about the ride and its a bit darker now, but also has a better storyline – Jack Sparrow looking to steal someones treasure.  *sigh*

Other highlights – my steak at dinner was very very good.  And the electrical light parade has two new floats – Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo.  Oh, and it was in full swing celebrating Halloween – which was really really enjoyable too.

Just a few new photos at flickr, so I wont link.

Wii has arrived!

9 09 2007

yes, i did it, I finally bought a Wii.  Happy Birthday to me!

however I havent bought a game yet…  will probably buy Wii Sports tomorrow – figured I didnt need to buy it tonight and spend all evening playing.  since I have some study to do and all.

Just a quick bit about the typhoon – well, it was a lot of wind and rain.  I was really surprised how the next day there were so many leaves and branches on the roads etc.  but apart from that tokyo was none-the-worse.  Walking home through it was quite fun.  It always brings back a happy memory for me walking home in storm weather.  Thats because once when I was in primary school mum and I got caught in a sudden shower on the way home from school.  We got completely drenched and had to strip off in the garage before we could enter the house.  I remember it as being fun..   so the typhoon sort of felt like that.  plus the lower half of my body got so wet that I had to strip off in my entry before entering the house….  so yeah….  anyway…..

whoo!

of birthdays and friends

2 09 2007

well, its official, Im now a quarter of a century old.  (and just what have you done with your life??? hmmm?)

anyway, my birthday was pretty average, had to work, so nothing much i could really do, but I have dinner with one of the girls from work and saw transformers.  Which, to be honest, I thought was more funny than anything else.   v.v.cheesy.

yesterday I met with Christian, who I used to work with when I was here on my working holiday visa.  It was really cool, because its been a very very long time (4 years), and I was introduced to his wife and son.  And oh my is his son adorable!  I had a great time.

Was planning on going to disneyland today, but alas, I wasn’t able to get anyone to go with me, so Im not so sure now if I will go.  If I do it’ll just be for the evening…  hmmm, still very undecided.  you see I could also go to ikebukuro and buy a Wii……   hmmmmm….

Do not go into the guardian. Stop where you are. Turn away from it. Don’t even look at it.

27 08 2007

well, its been a while since i last posted here, sorry!

As mentioned before I had a short trip to Aus to see family and get rid of a bit of homesickness.  Plus my timing was really good, Tokyo had some 40 degree days whilst I was in Aus enjoying 25 degrees.  Too bad the heat is still averaging about 35 now…  NEway.

Going home was great, I saw my family, some of my friends and did *a lot* of shopping.  Desperately needed new work gear.  It was pretty busy with all that, so sorry if I didnt get to see anyone!  as it turned out, my week in brisvegas was extended and extra 3 days because I managed to catch a bad viral infection, but i was sleeping most of that extra time.

So, back at work now.  Its really hot here, so can’t really do much else.  Did see a couple of movies this weekend – Oceans 13 and Die Hard 4.  Both really enjoyable!!!

righto, well, my dinner is ready so ciao!

holy moley!

luckily for me Im off to australia today, and a nice 22 degrees….

Yesterday was Katie and Sophie’s last day at work, so now Im the senior foreign teacher…  not really a good thing…  Im pretty stressed.  I dont think i would have lasted another day if my holiday didnt start today.

So, they’ve re-released all the rurouni kenshin comics here with spiff new cover drawings!  to get a glimpse, check out http://www.j-rurouni.com/  its all japanese, but they are lots of pretty graphics if you just explore for a bit.

on other topics.  I’ve had a bit of a killer week at work, and Im pretty stressed out.  But there’s only 5 more working days before Im on holidays and off home for a visit.  opps, better start packing!

This will be the last week for Katie and Sophie, so their replacements will be joining us from tomorrow.  And, unfortunately Venus has had to leave the company due to an emergency, so I’ll be the senior foreign instructor at our school soon.  Thats some what nerve-wracking.  I actually wasn’t able to sleep at all last night

I’ll go back to my happy thoughts….
