Seasons Greetings

18 12 2005

Hi everyone!

I can hardly believe that its time once again to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  The year really has flown by, and Im sure it actually left me behind somewhere in March.  I know I haven¡¯t been the best at keeping in contact this year, even more so than usual, but I would like you all to know that you have in my thoughts and prayers throughout the year.

Do you like the photo this year?  Mum has added a few more lights around the place, and although a few other houses in our Court have started to give us a bit more competition, I still think our lights are the best in the street (^-^)

So, the yearly update.  2005 started with me continuing in my job in a caf¨¦ in the Brisbane International Airport.  I saved up a bit of money over the 5 or so months I worked with them and went on a short holiday to Tokyo in January/February.  It was only just shy of three weeks, and I didn¡¯t get time to see everyone I wanted to, but I did have a ball as usual.

When I came back I was supposed to have a couple of weeks before university would start again, however I learnt of a Scholarship exchange to Japan through QUT, and I applied, and much to my surprise and delight I got it.  So just after Easter I was off to Japan again, this time to Sendai to study at Miyagi Gakuin, a girls only collage (which was a first for me).  My time there was very rewarding but also a lot of hard work.  I was living in a dormitory, and I had Japanese classes for 3 hours everyday, but I also made lots of friends, who I look forward to seeing again in the future some time.

The exchange was only for 4 months, so in August I was back in Australia and straight back to university.  With my exchange and an offer from QUT, I was able to just study 2 subjects and then my degree would be complete.  I actually just found out about 2 weeks ago that I passed everything, and so I will be graduating next February, which believe me is about time!

The last semester at university was very difficult, and I had a very hard time juggling studies, social life and work.  I actually got my job back at the caf¨¦, but they were working me far too much, so I found another job at the airport working in retail.  Suffice to say, I really love my new job, and its working out perfectly for me, as Im getting about 5 days a week work currently.

As for next year, well, I will remain in Australia until July at least.  I want to save up some money, and Im planning to do a TESOL course, which is a certificate in teaching English to speakers of other languages.  I am also involved in The Lions Club Miss Personality Quest, which is to raise money for the Lions Medical Research.

After that?  Well, who knows?  I¡¯ve got plans but they won¡¯t make my Grandma very happy as they all involve me living overseas.

Well, that¡¯s about all from me.  I hope you are all well and keep safe this Christmas!

Love,

Michele
